We believe in the preservation of the planet and proud that we can also cast our footprint in being a green accommodation provider, our resort runs on 100% Solar energy, plastics are reduced to the bare minimum, we also have a gray water system in place to water our tropical gardens.
A word from the Investors
We are a group of shareholders of Dutch origin, each holding over 25 years of experience in Africa. Our aim is to give back to the community, both directly and indirectly. We love Africa and we want to live in a secure and clean environment. Over the years in Africa we have invested in and operated hotels, lodges, renewable energy, mining, dredging and construction both in East and Southern Africa. We like to share our love for Africa with other likeminded people to whom we would like to offer the experience of the African way of living. This resulted in the concept of Shiri Beach Tropical Living on the beautiful island of Zanzibar.
All our staff members are local Zanzibaris, who will benefit from Shiri Beach. Additionally we have a social responsibility program here at Fumba village, mainly in schooling, clean water and micro finance.
Sustainability
Shiri Beach will also run 100% on solar energy. Our water comes from a borehole in order not to stress the national grid and is getting tested once a year. The quality of our water is far within the guideline of the Zanzibari Government and within the UN guideline on water quality. Instead of building with traditional brick and mortar, we have chosen a more environmentally friendly construction to reduce our carbon footprint, while still maintaining the durability and appearance of traditional materials. We will be using cement fibre boards which are pressed into panels with insulation, which are the same thickness as normal bricks.

We also support our local community by sourcing 90% of our supplies locally.

‘We have two types of villas available, all the villas are located near the beach with a seaside view, each villa is decorated in a modern, tropical luxurious style with a hint of Arabic and Swahili expression and fitted out to the highest European comfort.’
Resort Policies
Check-in is available from 14h00 and check out is at 11h00. Guests are welcome to use the lounge area until their departure. Guaranteed early arrival or late check out is subject to availability and at an additional charge.
Each villa comes with a fully equipped kitchenette with a stove\oven and fridge\deepfreeze combination. Air Conditioning in bedrooms. Selected type B sea view and garden view Double Story Villas have their own private balconies and rooftop terraces. You also have an option of a villa with a private plunge pool.
We are 100% Solar Efficient, with a backup generator, so we are entirely off the grid. Our 19 Villas consist of:
- Daily bottled mineral water in room.
- Concierge services: booking and recommendations for excursions and transfers.
- Room and turndown service.
- Free Wi-Fi access - the fastest in East Africa - available throughout the resort.
- 24/7 security, free and secure parking.

History of Zanzibar
Why Zanzibar is so different from all other Island destinations is due to its rich history with settlements dating as far back as the early 14th century.
Zanzibar, also known as Unguja, is an island that was formerly part of the Portuguese empire under the rule of the Omani Sultanate. This is where Zanzibar got its strong Arabic influence. You can sense Zanzibar’s Arabic roots in its bustling bazaars, its distinct architecture, and the rich spice culture that still plays a large part in the region’s economy.
A visit to Zanzibar and especially Stone Town can be compared to time travel. As you wander the town’s complex network of alleys and laneways, you’re literally surrounded by history. In fact, Stone Town is a World Heritage site for precisely this reason.
Zanzibar’s distinct charm is a result of its years of cross-cultural exchange, and it’s all the more charming for this jumble of cultures, beliefs, and languages.
